25 Sept - The presidential elections, originally scheduled for 11 October, will be the first elections held since last year's uprising that resulted in the fall of the long standing President Blaise Compaoré. President Kafando was ousted in a military-led coup d’état last week and reinstated this week through intervention from the Economic Community of West African States Heads of State and Government and efforts of the African Union, among others. Interim President Michel Kafando will need to organize new elections to allow transition to a democratically elected government.
