Aran is the top region by meat production (in slaughtered weight) in Azerbaijan. As of 2012, meat production (in slaughtered weight) in Aran was 88,322 tons that accounts for 40.77% of Azerbaijan's meat production (in slaughtered weight). The top 5 regions (others are Guba-Khachmaz, Ganja-Gazakh, Shaki-Zagatala, and Dakhlik Shirvan) account for 85.51% of it. Azerbaijan's total meat production (in slaughtered weight) was estimated at 216,633 tons in 2012.
