Thimphu is the top region by urban population in Bhutan. As of 2012, urban population in Thimphu was 79,185 persons that accounts for 40.38% of Bhutan's urban population. The top 5 regions (others are Chhukha, Sarpang, Samtse, and Samdrup Jongkha) account for 73.43% of it. Bhutan's total urban population was estimated at 196,111 persons in 2012.
