Brazilian National Confederation of Industry

The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (Confederação Nacional da Industria – CNI) is the official and highest-level organization representing Brazilian industry. Since its founding in 1938, CNI has defended domestic business and manufacturing interests, acting as the main interlocutor with the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, as well as with various organizations and entities in Brazil and around the world.

      The INEC index dropped from 48.4 points in April 2019 to 47.0 points in June. This is the second consecutive fall in the index, showing a decline in consumer expectations. Still, June’s result is above the historical average and the figure observed in the same period last year, though the effects of the truck driver’s strike in May of 2018 should be taken into consideration.

With this stability, the indicator breaks a streak of three consecutive increases. Yet, business confidence remains at a high level: the ICEI is still up by 4.8 points from its historical average and by 6.6 points from the figure registered in September 2018
