The CNR is a technical organization whose primary mission is to observe the operating modes of the MRT markets and whose scope has gradually extended from national transport under the French flag to all those carried out in the European area. . It is also a think tank where the analyzes of professional managers on the situation and the future of the sector are issued, with the assistance of qualified personalities and the contribution of the work developed by a team of permanent. By virtue of the mission of general interest entrusted to it by the State, it informs but also alerts the economic circles and the ministry in charge of transport of the evolutions observed.
