Department of Statistics, Malaysia Vision of becoming a leading statistical organisation by year 2020 provides a platform for the Department to enhance its statistical delivery to be at par with statistical organisations of developed countries. Thus, through Strategic Plan 2010-2014, the Department has indentified various programmes to enhance its statistical management and information technology so that data collection activities, interpretation and data delivery to all users, be it the Government, private sector or international organisations are effectively implemented. The Department also instils innovative and creative culture among officers as an initiative to fulfil the various users' needs in the dynamic and challenging global environment.

      Net Capital Stock (NKS) which represents the wealth of Malaysia’s economy in term of fixed assets increased to RM2.2 trillion and grew by 4.2 per cent. Services remained as the largest contributor to NKS with a share of 67.8 per cent. Mining & quarrying constituted of 16.5 per cent and Manufacturing was 12.4 per cent. By type of assets, structure was major contributor to Services with 84.1 per cent while other assets was dominated in Mining & quarrying accounted for 83.9 per cent.
