National Statistics Institute, Cabo Verde

NSI is the central executive body of production and dissemination of official statistics within the National Statistical System, with technically independent authority with administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy, in accordance with its statutes.

The group aged 15-24 had 102,475 (19.2% of the total) and the 25 to 64 year old group was estimated at 245,732 (46.3%). In relation to the elderly (people aged 65 or over), the estimated value for 2016 is around 29,057 individuals (5.5% of the total) -Table 2.3 -. With regard to the structure of the population, by sex, it is observed that the weight of the female population was higher in those years than in the male population, except for the years 2015 and 2016 (Table 2.3). The data in table 4.10 indicate that, in general terms, about 89% of pupils passed from primary to secondary school in the 2015/2016 school year. The lowest rate was registered in the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo (63.1%) and, conversely, Boa Vista (96.4%) obtained the highest transition rate between these two levels of education, in comparison with other in the same school year.
