The Institute monitors monthly fluctuations in the prices of goods and services in the various markets of the headquarters of departments. Particularly in the city of Cotonou, a Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices is calculated and published monthly. More than 600 products are monitored and around 1000 points of sale are visited during each month. Consumer price tracking provides consumer price indices for the twelve consumption functions and average prices.

National Accounts are the numerical, synthetic representation of the economic activity of a country during a given period, usually one year. The compilation of accounts follows three main phases: source processing, pre-arbitration, work on local stations and synthesis. At the end of the synthesis work we obtain two tables that are the Table Ressources Emploi (TRE) and the Table of Integrated Economic Accounts (TCEI). From the TAR we have the GDP according to the three perspectives (production, expenditure and income). From the GDP series emerge the country's economic growth rates.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is one of the major aggregates of national accounts.  As the main economic indicator of economic output produced within a given country, the GDP aims to quantify for a given country and year the total value of the "wealth production" performed by the agents. residents within this territory (households, businesses, public administrations).  GDP thus reflects a country's domestic economic activity and the change in GDP from one period to another is expected to measure its rate of economic growth.
