Under the authority of the Minister of Planning, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) is responsible for the design, development, coordination and implementation of statistical activity and socio-economic information on all the extent of the national territory. The functioning of the National Statistical System is essentially based on two bodies: the National Statistical Council (CNS) and the Technical Statistical Committee (STC). The NSC is responsible for the coordination, harmonization and programming of census projects and statistical surveys. The National Statistical Council is assisted by a Technical Committee of Statistics in charge of the preparation of the work of the CNS, the implementation and the follow-up of the decisions and recommendations.
