Calculations according to population projections based on 2002 Census. 2009: in the regions of Tarapaca, Antofagasta and Atacama National Parks were created: Salar del Guasco, Morro Moreno and Llanos de Challe, with 110962, 7314 and 45708 hectares respectively. In the Bio Bio Region National Reserve "Altos de Pemehue" was created with 18856 hectares. In the Arica and Parinacota Region Cardones Gorge Unit was created in category "National Monuments". The total area may not correspond to the sum of subtotals, because of the approximations made.
