A subset of the the Main Economic Indicators (MEI) database, the Composite Leading Indicator (CLI) are designed to provide early signals of turning points (peaks and troughs) between expansions and slowdowns of economic activity. CLIs are calculated for 33 OECD countries (Iceland is not included), 6 non-member economies and 8 zone aggregateby OECD every months. A country CLI comprises a set of component series selected from a wide range of key short-term economic indicators. The OECD has published CLIs since 1981.
