Kobe Bryant, the newly-retired 37 year-old player with the Los Angeles Lakers, was the all-time active scoring leader during the 2015-2016 NBA season. During his 20-year career he scored 33,643 points, surpassing Michael Jordan but falling short of all-time historical scoring leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar scored 38,387 points during his 20-season NBA career. Michael Jordan, an iconic figure of world basketball, is ranked fourth by all-time points scored during the regular season.

The average NBA player earned $4.6 million per year as of 2015, or a total of $2.1 billion for the the 448 players in the NBA. Out of the 30 NBA teams, the Brooklyn Nets pays the highest average salary at $6.2 million per year. Among NBA players, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is the highest paid NBA athlete with earnings of $64.8 million as of 2015, including salary of $20.8 million and an additional $44 million of endorsement income. During his 11-year career in the NBA, LeBron has scored a total of 26,833 points with an average of 27 points per game.
